To Design a residential building of 25-30 units according to the specific brief for our specified site. Using the site and precedents’ analyses this was used to inform the design. Creating quality spaces which can accommodate diverse social groups and lifestyles. Considerations of ‘inhabitation’ as a social actionwas key issue, taking into account communal and public spaces as locus of meaningful social interaction to design a interesting proposal
The primary purpose of identifying such a role was to begin considering the positioning of the residential building on the site itself and its relation to the immediate environment. Consider: who is going to live here? Where are the residents likely to work? Where are local amenities and how do they reach them? Beyond the provision of dwelling, what other conditions should the design satisfy – provision of public space? A sheltering, protective environment? Or perhaps permeability and a continuum of building and city?
